The faculty of The Academy are prepared to offer a wide variety of training opportunities to meet your individual professional needs as well as the needs of your agency. Our most popular courses are scheduled regularly. Existing curricula can be modified to meet your unique challenges, and new curricula can be developed and tailored to your needs. Individual and group rates are available. We are a provider of CEUS for LCSWs, LMFTs, LMHCs and those credentialed by the Florida Certification Board. Our rates include CEU processing expenses. We are also able to provide customized training at your location. Our current offerings include:Professionals.jpg

Qualified Clinical Supervisor Training: This 16 hour course meets the training requirements of the Florida Board of CSW/MFT/MHC to become credentialed as a Qualified Supervisor.  We offer this course twice per year and anticipate our next offering to be in November 2012.

Mental Health First Aid: 12 hour certification training for nonclinical staff and/or community members in how to recognize and respond to a mental health problem experienced by someone they know.  Call (407) 831-2411 X1206 for more information.

Identifying and Managing Suicidal Behavior: Advanced training for clinical professionals in responding appropriately to acutely and/or chronically suicidal clients.

Customer service in Behavioral Healthcare: Training for front desk and telephone staff of behavioral healthcare agencies to optimize consumer care throughout the treatment experience.

De-escalation Training: Training for reception staff and paraprofessional staff in verbal techniques for appropriate response to clients who are emotionally charged and behaving abusively toward staff. Additional techniques relating to proactive prevention of emotionally charged situations included in course. Live professional actors assist the instructor in the provision of this course.

Co-occuring Disorders Training (as recommended by SAMSHA TIP 42): This 13 hour training is designed specifically for those working in either mental health settings or substance abuse settings. New data indicates that most of the clients served by both of these settings actually suffer from both a diagnosable mental illness and a diagnosable substance abuse problem. This training provides an overview of the most effective responses to these clients based on best practices identified by a panel of experts commissioned by The US Department of Health and Human Services.

Domestic Violence Training provides an overview of the dynamics of domestic violence, as well as special populations affected by domestic violence. Meets the 2 hour CEU requirement for those licensed as clinicians in Florida.

Motivational Interviewing (as recommended by SAMHSA TIP 35): This 7 week training is designed for clinicians to build skills in motivational interviewing and counseling and apply these skills in their practice between sessions. Live professional actors assist the instructor in learning and practicing the skills taught in this course.
